Background
Cori Uccello is a consultant for the Urban Institute, where she was previously employed as a Senior Research Associate. She is also the Senior Health Fellow at the American Academy of Actuaries and serves as the actuarial profession's chief policy liaison on health care issues. Ms. Uccello is an actuary with extensive research experience in a range of issues related to health policy and income security during retirement. Her retirement-related research focuses on projecting retirement resources and assessing the adequacy of these resources to meet retirement needs. Her health-related research focuses on Medicare, health insurance coverage, and approaches to expand coverage to the uninsured. Prior to joining the Urban Institute in 1994, she was an Actuarial Fellow with the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company. Her tenure there included actuarial work on pensions and long-term care insurance.
Ms. Uccello earned her B.S. in Mathematics and Biology from Boston College and her M.P.P from Georgetown University.
