Some valuable data sets are not widely available to the research community due to confidentiality requirements.  The Center’s restricted data enclave currently has three restricted datasets linked to the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) – SSA Administrative Data, Geographic Information, and Pension Estimation data.   Access to these data is restricted to investigators who receive research funds from an agency of the United States government.  Researchers involved in these projects are required to  complete the Human Participants Protection Education for Research Teams course sponsored by NIH, be aware of the necessary data protections, and receive user approval for restricted through the University of Michigan.

The CRR understands the need to protect respondent anonymity and maintain data security.  The Center will coordinate restricted access to these sources and provide technical support.
