Compare Your Retirement to Peers

Mobile Share Email Facebook Twitter LinkedIn

How are your retirement plans going?  If you’re a conservative Generation Y investor, are you in the mainstream?  Baby boomers, how many in your generation are planning to retire at the same age you do?

Compare yourself with your peers in this cool interactive quiz developed by the Boston mutual fund company, Fidelity Investments.

Click here to check it out.

As you answer each question, you can compare yourself with your peer group’s answer to that same question, based on a prior survey for Fidelity by the polling company, Gfk.  Your peer group is determined by your income and your generation – baby boomer, Generation X and Generation Y.  Fidelity also provides useful information and tips with each question.

To help you prepare for retirement, the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College has developed calculators.

The Center, which funds this blog, has separate calculators for people under age 50 and for those age 50 and over.

This should be a really good motivator.
People like to compare their lot with others. Perhaps this will light a fire under some…

Might as well add some more calculators to the mix if you want to ensure as much info as possible. Check out these calculators: http://www.mutualfundstore.com/planning-and-retirement/tools-and-calculators, from retirement planning, to 401(k) calculations.

I wish that I had been more concerned on retirement issues when I was still in a position to do so. Unfortunately there always seemed to be something else that took priority and retirement plans always seemed ‘boring’ – they don’t seem so boring now!
