Strategic Advisor

Kevin Crain is a Strategic Advisor at the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College, drawing on more than four decades of experience shaping retirement research, public policy, and financial wellness.

Kevin began his career as an Analyst at Chase Manhattan Bank, then moved into client relationship management at Bankers Trust, building a strong foundation in financial services. He entered the retirement sector at Fidelity Investments before becoming Head of 401(k) Operations at Putnam Investments, where he helped shape the firm’s defined contribution strategy. He then spent nearly 20 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, rising through senior retirement services leadership roles to become Head of Retirement Research.

Kevin currently serves as Executive Director of the Institutional Retirement Income Council and holds senior advisory roles with McKinsey, the Milken Institute, the Global Coalition on Aging Advisory Council, Savi, Penelope, Pallas Capital Advisors, and OpenArc Corporate Advisory. He is also a Visiting Executive for the Gerontological Society of America, an Honorary Member of the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA), and an active member of its Public Policy Committee.
