Using data from the Health and Retirement Study, this project will document cohort trends in poverty, food insecurity, and health conditions, and assess whether health status impacts the relationship between poverty and food insecurity and, if so, how this relationship may be changing for more recent birth cohorts. This topic is important to SSA because it could help target SSA’s campaign to reach low-income Americans who do not receive SSI but may be eligible due to health conditions and low means.
