Julie Agnew

Julie Agnew is the head of retirement research at Vanguard. She is also a member of the Pension Research Council Advisory Board of the Wharton School. Previously, she was the Richard C. Kraemer professor of business at the College of William and Mary, an analyst in investment banking for Salomon Brothers in New York City, and an equity research associate for Vector Securities International in Chicago. Her research focuses on the interplay between financial literacy and behavioral finance with an emphasis on the financial decisions individuals make concerning their retirement plans. A former Fulbright Scholar to Singapore, she has co-authored a book examining strategic business opportunities in Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Dr. Agnew graduated magna cum laude from the College of William and Mary with a B.A. in economics. She received a Ph.D. in finance from Boston College.
